nebensonnenSun Dogs or Parhelia are atmospherical phenomena which are produced by ice crystals. The refraction and reflection of light by the ice crystals creates bright spots of light on either side of the sun. Sundogs always stay at the same elevation as the sun. The circumstance that one single source (of light) appears as a triality is reflected in this piece.

The player needs three stands. While playing, he turns to the specified stand. The material of the piece consists basically of scales composed of equal steps. Using pure intonated natural tones, the steps are precisely not equal. So each of these alleged equal steps has an individual expression.

The piece is repeatedly interrupted by a Ritornello which is not related to the other parts. It has a very alterably character.
